TradeRecall is local-first. Your executions, your trading plan, your voice and everything the app makes from them stay on your own computer. They are never uploaded — not to us, not to anyone — unless you choose to send something yourself, as described below.
What the app sends
- Activating a licence — your licence key, a code that identifies the computer (derived on the computer, not its serial number), the computer's name, operating system and app version.
- Licence checks, once a day — at most once a calendar day while the app runs: your licence key, that code of the computer and the app version. Once, it also sends the day your first trade landed in your journal (the date only), because your trial starts that day. Never a trade, an instrument, an account, a result, a time of a trade or a word from your journal. If TradeRecall's add-ons run on a second computer of yours, such as a Windows virtual machine on your Mac, the check also sends that computer's code.
- Update checks — when the app starts and every 12 hours after, it downloads the list of the current version from updates.traderecall.app. You can turn this off. When you choose to update, it downloads the new installer from there. It sends nothing about you.
- Exchange rates, once a day — when the app starts and has no rates from today yet, it downloads the day's reference rates of the European Central Bank (www.ecb.europa.eu), to convert amounts between currencies. It sends nothing about you.
- Local AI models — when you set up TradeRecall or press Download, the app downloads the speech, language and Help search models and the programs that run them, from huggingface.co, github.com and updates.traderecall.app. On Windows it can also do this once by itself, when a lighter model suits your computer better; you see it in the title bar and can stop it. Models for reading text in other scripts (for example Cyrillic or Chinese) come from updates.traderecall.app, only after you agree. It sends nothing about you.
- A problem report, only when you press Send — what you wrote, and a description of the computer and the app: operating system, processor, memory, graphics, free disk space, ports in use, time zone and region, where the app and its data are installed, the versions, and the state of updates and of the licence. You see the whole report before it is sent. Records of trades the app could not take in are added only if you choose to add them.
- AI on another computer, only if you set it up — if you choose in Settings › Voice & AI to run the language model on another computer, the text of your voice memos, journal entries and notes, your prep and your questions to Help go to the address you enter. The app warns you and asks you to confirm first. Recordings are still turned into text on your own computer, and your journal stays there.
Like any connection on the internet, each of these shows the server the IP address of your connection. Nothing else leaves your computer: the app has no telemetry, no analytics and no crash reporting.
What the website keeps
- Your email — used only to send your licence key, your receipts and sign-in codes. Sign-in codes are stored only as a one-way hash and expire after 10 minutes.
- Your trial licence — when you ask for it on the download page: the licence and its key, the day your trial started (the day of your first trade, as the app reports it), when you first clicked a download link in the email, and the tag of the link that brought you to the site, if it had one (for example
youtube). - Your purchases — date, amount, receipt link. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
- Your computers — as listed above, so you can see and manage them in your account, and when each last checked the licence (only the latest, no history of days).
- Problem reports you send — the report exactly as you saw it in the app, the app's version and when it arrived. No IP address and no licence key is kept with it.
- Counts without names — per day: how many computers checked a licence (trial, paid or free), how many visits came by each tagged link, how many times each installer was downloaded and how many update checks arrived. No licence, no computer and no IP address is kept with these numbers.
- One cookie — keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary and used for nothing else. No tracking or advertising cookies.
Who processes it for us
- Stripe — payments.
- Cloudflare — hosting of the website and the licence server.
- Resend — sends the emails with your licence key, receipts and sign-in codes.
