Trading journal for MotiveWave

Import only: TradeRecall does not record MotiveWave by itself. You export a file from MotiveWave, and TradeRecall imports it.

What comes in

  • Your fills from MotiveWave's executions export, or from its journal file, journal.csv.
  • The journal file also brings the orders you placed, moved and cancelled: a stop order on the side that closes your position shows as the trade's stop, a limit order there as its target.
  • A fill that is in both files, or in a file imported twice, is written once.
  • Trades made on MotiveWave's simulated account: set the account to simulation when you import.

Say why while you trade

⌥⌘J on a Mac or Win+Shift+J on Windows starts and stops a voice note while you trade, and the note goes into your journal. Voice trading journal

How you bring it in

  1. Executions: in MotiveWave, open the Account tab at the bottom, then Executions, and press the Export to CSV File icon. Choose the account and the start date.
  2. Or the journal file, journal.csv. On a Mac it is in your home folder › Library › MotiveWave › workspaces › the workspace name › config.
  3. In TradeRecall, open Trades › Import and pick the file. Choose Source timezone first: nothing is imported until you do.
